yes, it's called vibrato, and, no, if you fake it, it won't sound right.
It's a natural by-product of singing well, and that means knowing how to use your breath properly ( breath control or breath support) so that the muscles in your throat have the freedom to allow this to happen.
A very technical explanation ( fasten you seatbelt)
the vocal cords lie horizntally in the throat, and aare attached in front to the thyroid cartilege ( your adam's apple) they swing open and shut from front to back, guided by various other cartileges and muscles. when all of these bits work together in a free unforced manner ( you're not pushing on them or forcing the sound) the cords will not only swing back- and-forth, they will also oscillate up-and- down. This creates a turbulence in the air stream which is constantly passing between them. we hear this as vibrato.
It's not something you can voluntarily control or make happen. It has to be trained. Some folks are lucky enough to instinctively click into that mode of singing with support that allows this to happen. Most of us have to train in classical singing. Age is also a factor. Most young teens won't have this ability because their voices are just setlling into their adult forms, girls and well as boys. Most of us get a sense of vibrato about our early 20s.
If you have a sense for it already, then don't force it. Let it continue to happen, but keep checking out what you do at the time when you feel it happening. Chances are you will feel this sense of solidity and stability around your waist which are the characteristics of good breath support.
check it out with your chorus diector at school or your church choir. somebody there will probably started down this path and will be willing to lead on.

I concur with Lynndramsop--to be technical about the process, vibrato is a cyclic frequency-modulation of a note at a rate of not more than six hertz. I took a long time to understand the dynamic process--the parallel I find closest is the technique used by guitarists and violists, in applying frequency modulation at the fingerboard; Leo Fender designed an alternate FM mechanism into the Stratocaster guitar series (since perfected by Floyd Rose), with a torque arm (popularly called "whammy bar") on a spring-loaded bridge/tailpiece.

It's with the strength and control of air, singing from the diaphragm.

Don't really try to fake a vibrato with turning your head or moving parts of your body, that's just wobbly, fake vibrato.

Just sing and sing, do scales, do arpeggios, just like practicing the piano, you can actually do easy piano excercise pieces as singing excercises.

As a choir member...

I make my voice vibrate by regulating the air coming out from my diaphragm.

It's like producing voice in a pulsating way, but fast.

Try saying "hahahahaha" without the "h" sound, but not making the "a" sound hard.

With a good voice teacher you should be able to improve upon what you already have. It is quite a complicated business, doing vibrato with the voice.

I was watching the movie "Destry Rides Again" and in it, there was a scene where Marlene Dietrich sang a song. I noticed that she was pulling on the front of her neck to create that effect.

it's called "vibrato"
and u just warble your voice box when u sing..some people shake their chin, move the back of ur tongue back and forth or against your uvula sorta....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singing#Vibrato

some people use vibrato as a means of not being on pitch, since vibrato makes pitches around the note as opposed to pure tones.

Vibrato? People who were born being able to sing can do it... others need a lot of training to refine it. (was born with it) lol!!!
