How would you attack a country? a battle plan?

First drop bombs split the army up...
next take over the govt and disband the army
doesnt this just send everyone home and create the problem we have now?
then spend 10 years fighting insurgents?


not to mention all of the pissed of husbands and fathers that will fight because we accidentally killed their family dropping bombs

is my logic incorrect?

Shut down communications first . Then hit runways and any military aircraft that you have located . then you want to remove the bridges , rail lines and power plants . ..
Next order of business is to establish a perimeter around each major city about twenty miles out blocking all passage to and from the city .
Once this is done you demand that all weapons are to be turned over and soldiers report to the camps you will be setting up . This in turn will restore power for a few hours a day .

Then carefully go through an interview with the local police .

Let them know that they still must maintain order and that you will be relying on them for hourly reports .

If you have any violence you simply tell the people to get out of the city you plan on leveling it .

Give them three days to pack it all up and get out . No one passes through a check point with any metal on them .

Then level it but make sure you video tape the leveling so it can be shown to other communities that might resist .


Do you get the picture yet how a real invasion should be handled .

You do not go into the cities at all you simply cut them off and contain them till peace is reached .

Several months of normality and you can pull back out .

First you need a roll of quarters and a degree in electronics (or an electrician to help you). And you don't drop bombs, it's diapers. Lots of em'. Dirty used ones. They make a big mess when they splatter all over everything, and nobody wants to clean them up. They're yucky! Plus they attract roaches. More yucky! Nobody likes little nasty roaches scurrying around a stinky, dirty, fecal infested cespool. And roaches are hard to get rid of too. They can take nuclear weapons and disease better than a human can. After everyone important leaves the country (I'm assuming it's a small country with all of the important people having all of the money and the other people too poor to have any reason or means to leave), you just set up your giant bug zapper that you built ahead of time (it costs less than even one tank after all). ZZZZZZZZZZZZZPTT! Problem solved. Now you are king because you are the richest (you remembered to bring along that roll of quarters). Now have your peasants clean up those diapers!

Depends on the country their capabilities the army size the quality of troops.

All this gets factored in.
(And to the Marine that says they use outdated soldiers rant...just because youre a marine doesnt mean youre qualified to make judgement on the best military leaders of our time)

FIRST, you need intel.
Radar placements, Aircraft, Navy, Weapon systems

theres a whole line of covert sldiers that would be sent in to gather intel.

the fight for the Air begins
Stealth bombing starts to take out Radar Tower to allow our fighters air superiority
Meanwhile Navy ships will be deployed to conquer the sea, and offer a support by fire position for any ground troops

Once radar and communications are out, the bombs get dropped to soften the ground for our ground troops, while the marine expeditionary forces, airborne forces and mechanized forces are prepped to roll out, and already on there way.

And then oyu have the blitzkrieg assault takeplace.
Land sea and air troops fight and seize their objectives under the cover of the Air Force and Navy, and viola...
you have mission success.

Its worked in the past 2 gulf wars..
But then our enemy has been reatively weak in comparison.

Battles against other coutnries would be similiar, but it would depend on the opposing military and their weapin capabilities
And the stealth Bombers and air force fighters would see more action.

I would use insiders to provoke fighting against any government. Than i would give them support in my army. When we win I have new army in the people I supported. They are here to make peace. The problem is in new government. The best book about that is Animal farm by Orwell.
You can not win war with bombs. Only with ground troops. I know some Iraqi solders surrendered to Apache helicopters but you need solder on the ground to take them in.

Yes of course, also no matter how accurate a bombing is performed there are always innocent civilian casualties.
That's one of the reasons I'm against offensive attacks.
To defend against aggression how ever is totally a different scenario, with entirely different rules.

First disrupt all communications. Second, bomb military targets. Third, use tanks with infantry backup on the front lines. Fourth, drop paratroopers behind the enemy lines. Fifth, secure all munitions dumps and enemy targets and finally, force a peaceful surrender with a withdrawal date.

In the current war the enemy blends in with the crowd so thats why it takes 10 years.

I think your referring to America, our military doesn't "accidentally" bomb a neighborhood, they bomb specific building and make sure that no civilians are harmed.

Buy up as much of their media as they will let you have. Hack their central bank, or banks, counterfeit their money, launder black market money and whatever else you could think of to undermine their currency until they create a shXtload of new currency and their money is worthless. When it costs what you used to make in 1 month to buy a pack of gum you've got them on the ropes. Use the media to attack their government. Force the government to react irrationally and undermine the peoples confidence in them. Select a nationalist ruling coalition to step in use your media outlets to sway the population towards them and wait for the Rose Revolution to begin..

Two things that your missing. One, I assume you have no actual knowledge of combat tactics because if you did you would know that we weren't just casually dropping bombs on innocent civilians. Leave the strategy to those of us who know how to impliment it. Two, politicians govern what we do and unfortunately most of them have never served in the military therefor they relay on outdate soldiers to give them advice rather than ask us in the field. They tie our hands, ask us to fight like gentlemen, but then complain and withdraw their support when we get killed. Tell them to let us do our jobs without all the restrictions and I gurantee we could get that place cleaned up twice as fast.
