I believe that person is inaccurate. YOU cannot recreate yourself from the ground up. You don't have the power to do it correctly. Only God can do that. I think you should let God recreate you from the ground up, in the way he desires you to be. And he will, because that's a promise he has made to all of us. And, God never breaks a promise.

I know of NO place in God's word where He indicates that we should, or even can, "recreate" ourselves. We can only put off old ways and seek to put on new ways.

However, He has promised that HE will make us new from the ground up.

Ezek 11:18-19
19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.
(from New International Version)

2 Cor 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
(from New International Version)

Eph 4:22-24
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
(from New International Version)

1 Peter 1:3-7

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
(from New International Version)

First, axe the L337 speak.

To recreate ones self from the ground up.... hmmm... I'd start by being brutally honest with yourself and those around you, even if the truth hurts. Thats the best way to grow as a person, in my humble opinion.

You were recreated when you accepted Christ. The Bible says you are a new creation in Christ. You don't have a past any more. Remember your past life, but don't dwell on it. Instead, look forward to the wonderful Life in Christ you are now a part of.

Don't be a victim any longer, become a survivor. Be assured the abusers will get their just rewards.

May be you had a spiritual awaking or may be you didn't
But one thing I can say is your better off seeing a physicist rather then going of the deep end of blind faith .

I almost answered with something snarky, until I realized you meant "re-create" rather than "recreate".
