...get married on my fiance's grandparent's wedding anniversary? My fiance' and I are having a Autumn '09 wedding with an Old English feel. He proposed on October 19, and we were considering that as the date when we found out that was when his grandparents were married. The reason we were considering that day (besides the fact that he proposed on that day) was because in our area the color is usually beautiful by that time, and isn't too cold, which is important for our outdoor wedding.

My stepsister got married on her grandparents anniversary. They (bride/groom) gave a speech about how they (grandparents) have influenced their lives. They even had a special small cake for the grandparents to cut. Grandma and Grandpa felt really special.

I wouldn't have an issue.....but you need to check with his grandparents. Ask them before you book anything, if they do have a problem just have your wedding the weekend before or after and the weather will still be beautiful.

I think many would consider it an honor but some people are funny about getting "their day" stolen. You also want to make sure it's not on a landmark year like their 50th so you don't overshadow their accomplishment you know?

Are his grandparents still married? I think it would be a great thing if so. Maybe tell them how much you admire them for staying married for all those years and ask if they wouldn't mind if you shared that special date.

of course it would be alright.
it would be like a little tribute in a way.

if you think about the amount of married couples on the globe. Now think about the number of days in a year. I'm pretty sure you'll find that quite a number of couples have been married on the same dates.

It should be okay. Ask them if you're worried about it. We were going to get married on my hubby's parents anniversary. It didn't end up working out like that, but they actually thought it was cool. They were disappointed when we weren't able to.

I think it would be a great toast to their love as a couple... Maybe you two should approach them about it and see what they say. They would probably be thrilled and appreciate that you two considered them in your decision.

Good luck!

Hi and congratulations!

Of course, it would be fine! I think they would be honored to share the anniversary date with their grandson.
