Usually they base the cost on the whole trip. Naturally you would pay less for a 5 day trip verus a 7 or 10 day trip. I have never paid per day.

The 'off season" is hurricane season in the caribbean June 1st to Nov 30th.

There are many cruise lines and ships. You can find a deal in any season. check these sites out

We paid about $100 each per day and felt it was worth it. Went to Alaska from Seattle. The off season varies; depends where you are talking about. The hurricane season is not the best time to go to the Caribbean, for example. The first cruises to Alaska in May are a bit early. So those are usually a bit cheaper. AAA has "specials" but you can also get good rates if you have the flexibility to book at the last minute. they like to have a full ship and lower rates the closer it gets to sailing time just to fill up the ships. You might not get your choice of cabin or where you would like to stop, however. We are looking at a Panama Canal cruise this year.

Don't forget there are travel costs getting to and from the port. Sometimes when ships change ports you can make longer one-way cruises that are less per day - Seattle to Miami for example.

Speak to a travel agent, they can answer all your questions. Then you can shop around and get the best cruise to fit what you want to do & see. I think that the seven day cruises are the best value. Good luck
