Seems nature and nurture are the cause of me - then one spends the rest of ones life trying to sort it out.

We (the body part)are a causation of a man and a women, Our mind/soul are a causation of the spirit, which means "breathe", which sustains the body. So, no we ourselves are not the causation of ourselves.
