Compassion and justice are qualities quite independent of any personification of deity, and no such connection is necessary for their exercise. Paying attention to God may be our own way of colouring the painting we have in our mind's eye of the ideals of justice and compassion, but however we exercise these ideals, they are their own value, their own consideration.
Personally, I'd rather see God pay more attention to man, anyway, rather than vice-versa.
