In a sick way, "Red Angel" is correct in that illegal aliens didn't technically jump in line.
An analogy would be a long long long line to get into to a movie theater. Illegal aliens didn't "cut in line", they actually bypassed the line COMPLETELY, went DIRECTLY into the theater, plopped their as*es down in a chair and said, "WE AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE". If you kick us out, we'll be back in a matter of hours and plop our as*es back down. There's too many us and you can't kick us all out. If there aren't enough seats (jobs) for everybody, TOO BAD!!!!

I'd complain. LOUDLY.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that I was invisible."
"Excuse me clerk? Where does the line start? Because I thought that I was in line, but this gentlemen just stepped in front of me."
I would and have raised a fuss over someone being rude in this manner. They deserve the embarassment that it causes them for dismissing another persons time as less valuable then theirs.
I've never had a clerk ignore me and wait on the line jumper first, but if they did I would simply drop my purchases on the floor and walk out.

I would have to say loud enough, "HOW RUDE"! If they continued to proceed, I would let them and be fussing the whole time about how rude some people are and how there Mama's didn't teach them any manners! I have on several occasions allowed someone to go ahead of me if they only have a few items and I'm not in a hurry! Depends on how much I have in my cart! There's been times I've let several go!

People with manners would have observed you being in line already. You can tell most of the time if they are being rude. If they are rude, I'd tell them the line is back there. Unless they looked at me and smirked and jumped in line in front of me anyway...in which case I would probably try and catch them outside and give them a piece of my mind, and if they wanted to give it a go, I'd also give them an attitude adjustment.

I would make it clear to the person who stepped in front of me that he/she had better get back in line behind me or we will have it out with the manager. I would also ask the checker not to service this person and explain why. She may help your cause if she is so inclined.

It has happened to me several times. If one is in line, the rest of their shopping party think they have the right to just join them at the front of the line,no matter who else is waiting behind them. Reminds me of other situations where their sense of entitlement comes before what is right.

It doesn't happen to me very often, but usually I don't feel like starting anything because I'm shy and don't like personal confrontations, and the small extra delay isn't worth the added aggravation to me. A lot of times someone else behind me will say something so I don't have to bother. I would be less likely to say anything to someone who is a lot bigger than me, or to someone who is very old.

If it is that time of the month(PMS), I am usually angry enough to say something and they say , "oh I didn't know', and move out of line,
but normally I wimp out and do nothing.
