can be longer here in wisconsin. my dad is serving 1year..so 365 at county jail and i know others in there who have even 2years or more

County jails are run by states. Each state has its own system. In some states, the state prisons are full so the state starts having convicted criminals serve their entire sentences in county jails.

Neither. Prisoners sentenced even to long sentences can serve them in county jails.

No-one sentenced to less than a year, though, can be sent to State prison.

Some county jails have prisoners who are serving life sentences.

This is a state and county issue.

A US jail term isn't measured in days (if it is for a bad crime) it is measured in months. Only petty crimes are measured in days......3 days, 6 days, etc.
