Maybe is French for 'I need to develop a set of balls'. Guys who palm you off with a maybe are playing with your emotions and should be avoided. If he gave you a 'happy' maybe then that's likely to indicate he does like you, but I think it reflects more on the fact that he is immature and doesn't know what he wants. Proceed with caution.

I think more of a no-but that's hard to say- he may want to be the one to ask you- If you just asked to go out sometime and he said maybe than I would let him make the next move--If you said do you want to go out the 7th of December and he said maybe than he might be trying to see if he is available

Its a definite MAYBE....isn't that how women normally operate? If the guy feels he has the power to keep a woman hanging...all the more power to him :) Maybe you should find a guy who asks you out......a maybe seems like he might have his eye on someone else, and if he goes fot her and strikes out...at least he has you waiting on the side as a hedge bet.

Maybe can either mean no as in he's not interested but doesn't want to tell you to your face or he already has some else he likes but they are still talking about dating. Either way, not a good sign.
