God does not let bad things happen, man lets bad things happen through free will. There is a God for all who believe. God cannot make you believe in him that is your choice but for those who do he gives eternal life. Bad things happen because the world has allowed Satan to run wild. People have turned away from the church. Teachers curse the kids in school. Prayer and the Pledge was taken out of the schools. Did God do that? NO, man allowed one person to take prayer out of school and the pledge to the flag. So like I said God does not allow bad things to happen, we do for not standing up for the things we believe in and allowing someone else to take our freedom away. There is a lot of things we could have stopped but we just waited for someone else to do it and it never got done. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

Because God knows, unlike some of those who profess to know him, but don't, that works matter, and that every problem in the world is merely an opportunity for one of God's authentic disicples to step up and be a witness to his truth, in word or deed, or both.
Trials and tribulation are often the only things that turn people back to God, and pain has always been a clear sign that something is wrong, and needs immediate attention.
Bad things happen because people continue to make bad choices. And once a negative chain of events begins, it's almost impossible to stop ... without divine intervention.
And that's the whole point.

God is nowhere to be seen, heard, etc etc.
There aint no concrete proof or evidence for God existing at all. And no, he didn't write the Bible at all. As for the holy spirit overseeing everything or inspiring men to write the Bible, etc --- oh, that is a convenient excuse to cover the weak points about the authenticity of the Bible. Christianity (and religion too) has become such a cult, that weak explanations are readily accepted without question.
Bad things happen because of those who commit them. It's that pure and simple. Would you expect God to be in a million places at once, and then be able to stop it, because he's God? Now how crazy are we going to go with theoretical discussions?
We don't even have any evidence for such a powerful God?
I think it shows how strange and weird - discussions about God are... No one can prove anything, as far as God is concerned...

God lets bad things happen because there are consequences to actions. God does not eliminate consequences. If I hold a hammer in my hand at shoulder height and let go of it, the hammer will fall to the ground because gravity pulls it. If I had been holding the hammer directly above my foot and leave my foot in position after I let go of the hammer, it will hit my foot and will hurt. That's the consequence of letting go of the hammer when it is directly above my foot.
Similarly, the result of Adam's rebellion against God is that the world is now imperfect. Bad things happen. People are evil and care only for themselves, they rape, they torture, the steal, they hurt so that they can fulfill their needs in one way or another. That's the consequences of sin. That's the consequences of the world not following God. Bad things happen. The people who are on the recieving end of the bad things are sometimes innocent. They are in the wrong place at the wrong time. It could be me.
God does not intervene because he is not free to intervene in all situations. There is free will. God does not manipulate people's will. He can influence them or not influence them, but people are not his puppets. He cannot wipe out all evil unless he were to either (1) destroy the universe and start over (but then all would be lost) or (2) if he had a means of bringing people into perfect relationship with him so that all who believed could be saved.

God doesn't. God gave people the knowledge, the tools, the abilities to control things such as poverty, rape, and such. But greed and pride is the bases for it. The devil is the cause of pain, sickness, and most death. But if your a Christian, to die is to present with God, which is the ultimate goal.

Because without bad, how can you know good? Only by experiencing the bad, can you realize your limitations and your need to have a relationship with God. Think about it, if everything was good all the time, why would you need to place your faith in Him. Hardship deepens your faith and molds you into a stronger person.
