... I know there were some big blocks used by certain manufactures but never heard anything about the 454.

Chevy used the 427 mystery engine in 63 (the first canted valve big block mark engine) and came back with the regular 396 (bored to 427) in 65 and 427 mark II engine in 66.

If I remember correctly the maximum engine size was 7 liters (427 cu in) plus slight overbore for rebuilds. I don't believe 454's were ever legal.

Hey go with Snake and Beth based on the research I did tonight they have it right on, the closet I can find, I don't think the 460 happened...Man this was deep..to bad my dad isn't alive he'd have the answer..Hey was a Chevy god.. This question is going to rack my brain for a week..

If I remember correctly,Beth has it ''right-on'' !!!
Same goes for Ford... Never ran a 460c.i, only a 429c.i !!!
