It depends lot on the size of your dog. If it is a toy, to be on the safe side, I'd get him to a vet, pronto (or at least call the emergency vet to see what they have to say about it - usually, if it is not an emergency, they will let you know to take him to your regular vet in the morning). Generally, the toxicity of onions is low but over time, can build up.

There are many plants that a dog can be poisoned by, Fancys_N...

I presume that the onion had been cooked before your b_itch ate the stuffing, Laea, and that pretty-well eliminates the risk. Onions are a prime ingredient in my stews, and my dogs love getting the leftovers.
But when in doubt, observe constantly and, if the pooch starts to act depressed, ring the vet to explain what's happened and what you've observed, then get going.
With all toxins, the effects depend on the relationship between the size of the dose and the size of the victim.

It depends on the size of the dog - the smaller they are, the more toxic even just a little bit of onion can be. One time probably won't cause a problem if your dog is healthy, but avoid letting her get into anything else with onion.
Just a side note - cats are even more sensitive than dogs are to onion, and I know my cats have accidently had some on more than one occasion without any ill effects.

Depending on how big you dog is, it probably wont be a big deal.
If you want to check, call the National Animal Poison Control center at (888) 426-4435. I believe this is a 24 hour service.
BUT They may charge a fee, so ask first!!
Good luck!

It will depend on how big your dog is. She might puke it up if you're lucky. It seems like it has to be a long-term thing though.
"Dogs and cats lack the enzyme necessary to properly digest onions and this could result in gas, diarrhea, or severe gastrointestinal distress. If large amounts of onion are ingested or onions are a daily part of your dog's diet, the red blood cells may become fragile and break apart. Severe anemias and even death can occur if the dog ingests lots of onions and receives no treatment.

It is no a sure thing that your dog will get wick. The golden rule is NO Onions/Tomatoes. Many a dog has eaten both and not gotten ill. Just try not to let it happen again. Your dog should be your best friend try to take better care of it than you do with yourself.

just give him a digestive enzyme. pick it up at your local pharm all niter. give him a child dosage. it will help. or as a backup you can give him activated charcoal. also in the pharm all niter. it absorbs the gases and prevent any toxins entering the system. it is always good to have active charcoal in the house incase of poisioning or intoxication.
