STATUTE of limitations refers to the idea that a crime cannot be prosecuted after a certain time has elapsed.

There is no statute of limitations on any criminal offence in UK.

After a long time the evidence might be less reliable and the chances of a successful prosecution may diminish, but the prosecution can still take place.

I'm not sure if there is a limitation in the case of child abuse, a sexual assault upon a child. I have heard of cases being brought to court decades after the event. I'm sorry I cannot be more specific, I've only got what I've heard on the radio or seen on TV to go on.

You need to advice of a good lawyer who has practice in this area of English Law.

There is no such thing as a statute of limitations in UK law - there is in the USA. The only similar thing applies to minor offences which are triable only at a Magistrates Court where criminal proceedings have to be started (ie a warrant or summons issued) within 6 months of the offence. A case of sexual abuse of a child would be triable at Crown Court and therefore there would be no limit as to when proceedings could be started.

It may be five years but "Generally, the statute of limitations for prosecuting sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, or sexual assault of a minor is 30 years after the victim reaches age 18" Good luck.

There is no statute of limitations for this offence in the U.K. Many offences of this nature are reported years after they occur and people are convicted.
