Go to her with a plan, take pictures of the styles that you are considering and tell her that you feel you are mature enough to make decisions about you hair. Let her know that you understand the consequences if you do not like the style. Ask her to give you one good reason why she wont allow it and you will forget about it. Of course she wont have one. If she still wont let you, then keep bugging her she will give in. But if you act all whinny and immature you will just prove her point, by not being mature.

My mom was the same way. I wasn't allowed to do anything like that to my hair until I was 18. I dyed it at 15, she was mad...very briefly. I never cut it until I was 18. It was down passed my waist and I cut it SHORT, didn't like that so I shaved it. My mom now says that if she would have known I would shave my head, she would have let me get it cut sooner, I went hog wild. It is only hair, and it will grow back, mine is at my waist again...mostly because of laziness. The point is, maybe give her my story as an antidote. Show her a picture of what you want your hair to look like and she might like it, or ask if you can make a girls day out and go together to get your hair done. I understand that it may be imbarrassing for you to be seen in public with your mom, but the promise of quality time with you might do the trick. Good luck.

Instead of begging your mom to get your hair cut short - tell your mom you want to go to a professional stylist who can let you know if the haircut you want would be good for your face shape and head shape. Unfortunately, although short hair looks GREAT on some people (models, tv stars and others) - many of us simply don't have the face/head shape to carry it off. In otherwords, the haircut you want so bad may look good on someone else but may look horrible on you. Get a professional's opinion before you do anything - and a professional would NOT be someone who works at a hair cutting chain.

Don't convince her, it is your hair. One day get the hair cut and eventually she will get used to it...I did something like that when I was 15. My mom didn't want to let to color my hair but anyways I did and eventually she got over it.

It's your hair, you shouldn't need to convince her. At least that's what I think . . .

sometimes the answer isn't to convince your perents......you have to try to nagoshiate..for ex: say "mom, i want to nagotiate w/ u....if you let me get my hair cut, i will try to do better in math or spanish or science etc."
