There have been so many Catholic Scientists: Ampere, Clavius, Colombo, Coulomb, Descartes, Endlicher, Fabricius, Galvani, Gioja, Gutenberg, Herzog, Kircher, Lacordaire, Marconi, Mariotte, Mendel, Pascal, Picard, Regiomontanus, Scheiner, Theodoric, Torricelli, Vesalius, and Volta. And some of these were priests and bishops.

John F.Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Ethel Kennedy, Graham Greene (writer), The founders of Solidarity Labor Union in Poland, G.K.Chesterton, Oscar Wilde (yes a practicing Roman Catholic), J.R.R.Tolklien (Lord of the Rings ring a bell?), Dorthy Day(Catholic Workers), Lord Acton, and so many others who serve their communities, who create art and literature and who work for justice; visiting the sick and institutionalized, teaching and helping and not being rewarded with fame or finances. Sharing themselves with others regardless of age, race, sexual identity, creed, religion or lack of religion. I am so grateful and blessed to be apart of the Roman Catholic Church and these wonderful people. We are not perfect, we have alot of work to do, so please be patient, God isn't finished with any of us yet!

As a rule religious people are less intelligent than non-religious people so there is some truth to the statement.
Though there certainly have been smart Catholics and dumb atheists in general the smart Catholics have been the exception.
I also notice that you aren't mentioning many recent people.
I mean if Catholics were so smart surely you'd have included names like Hawking, Feynmann, Dawkins, Jay Gould, Darwin, Weinberg and the like but you can't (at least not without lying).

Yes, it is. It is unjustified prejudice if you think any one group of people are dumb.
Some atheists say that ALL Christians are dumb. One who keeps changing his name has written to me and told me I deserve no respect because I am a Christian, He says all I deserve is ridicule.
Now that is unjustified prejudice.

Yes, unless the said person knows only stupid Catholics, which then said person can claim that Catholics are stupid, though it would be a misconception, since only the ones he/she knows is stupid. But no, I know plenty of Catholics who are smarter than I am, and I'm an atheist.
Hope this helps! ^_^

perhaps a class action after all no one can say these people were honest in what they claimed to believe religiously. just as the seminarian is taught much against his faith he is not at liberty to repeat what he has learned.

I wouldn't question the achievements of an individual catholic. It is the system that is corrupt. If their heart is right to really serve God, they will be lead out of it.
