A hypersensitivity reaction is not the same as an allergy. It will not show up on allergy tests. Personally, a hypersensitivity reaction did not show up until after several exposures. For instance, I used to be able to drink regular tea and coke. The doctor gave me theophylline for asthma. I had a reaction to it. Now I can no longer have things with caffeine. (Theophylline is related to caffeine.) Just one cup of tea will make my heart act up. My body reacts like I drank ten cups.
