Lies are like guns: they can be used to harm others, or they can be used in self-defense. In fact, lying most likely saved my life.

Many years ago, a man held a gun to my head, and rambled on insanely about how he was going to blow me away because I didn't deserve to live. After the initial shock, I played along with his delusion. I told him that I was working on my "problem." After several hours, he dropped me off at a train station. I'm basically an honest person, but I have absolutely no regret that I lied to that man that night.

We should not lie to manipulate people into doing or believing something they might not do or believe if they had all the facts. Lies that take choices away from people are a betrayal of trust. But lies can save lives, as in Nazi Germany when people hid Jews and lied about it. Or, like my lies that awful night.

How is that a double standard? If he moved from a Christian school to a public school thats hardly a double standard. However if he went to teach at another Christian school thats hypocrisy NOT a double standard.

It would only be a double standard if he said that statement about one Christian school and not the other.

In regards to the actual question I have been in situations where I could have either lied to appease everyone involved or tell the truth and I told the truth. In fact every situation where I had to consider both options I told the truth. I ended up absolutely hated by quite a few people and it caused me a lot of grief.

I would like to think that people I don't have the right to decide what truths a person can or cannot handle and that should be up to the person and not me. In reality though it doesn't work like that at all, anyone who thinks they can go through life telling the truth is just lieing to themselves.

It the end in depends on the situation and the repercussions for telling the truth or telling a lie and you have to make that decision yourself.

jesus said that "satan is a liar and the father of the lie" so if you lie you are being a liar like satan the devil who told the first lie to eve and decieved her

never lie, even if it is a good thing
for example, if someone is ugly but asks you if she is pretty, do not lie and say that she is, to make her feel better. just say politely, you're not ugly.
