It isn't benificial or good for you. You risk getting addicted to it, over time it can slowly damage your brain and it's waste of money. There are other more healthier ways to to sort out depression. Read this link about Cannibis and the risks.
The risks Top
* Even hardcore smokers can become anxious, panicky and suspicious.
* It affects your coordination, which is one of the reasons why drug driving is just as illegal as drink driving.
* Some people think cannabis is harmless just because it’s a plant – but it isn’t harmless. Cannabis, like tobacco, has lots of chemical 'nasties', which can cause lung disease and cancer with long-term or heavy use, especially as it is often mixed with tobacco. It can also make asthma worse.
* Cannabis is risky for anyone with a heart problem as it increases the heart rate and can affect blood pressure.
* There’s also increasing evidence of a link between cannabis and mental health problems such as schizophrenia. If you’ve a history of mental health problems, depression or are experiencing paranoia, then taking this drug is not a good idea.
* Frequent use of cannabis can cut a man's sperm count and suppress ovulation in women. If you’re pregnant, smoking cannabis may harm the baby.
* Regular, heavy use makes it difficult to learn and concentrate. Some people begin to feel tired all the time and can't seem to get motivated.
* Some users may want to buy stronger herbal cannabis to get ‘a bigger high’ but unpleasant reactions can be more powerful when you use stronger strains, and stronger varieties may lead in time to more severe dependence or more severe mental health effects.

OK in order of thoughts.
No I do not think it makes you a stoner. It shows that you are someone who is lost and needing help.
Pot will give you a false reality as well as helping brain cells go to heaven a little earlier than planned.
Long term use can create further depression.
Whatever is troubling you in this life cannot be sorted through a purple haze.
And as to benefits...? Well if I were selling it to you I could see the benefit in your buying it. If you were suffering from certain medical conditions it would suppress your symptoms and make life seem bearable for whatever time you had left.
Other than that is it called pot because that is where you go to after frequent use.
I don't think you are a cowardly person and I think that you can face up to your demons without the help of the sacred weed.
I will be thinking of you and caring about you.
. Take care not pot!!!

i 100% think pot should be legal. but it's NOT, so if you get caught you're in big trouble. and be careful, it IS addictive - not like crack or herroin, but if you keep using it you will need more and more to feel good.
(legal disclaimer: drugs are BAD! just say no!)

ROFL you take it as an antidepressant?? Dope causes depression. It tends to exaggerate the mood you are in when you first start using it (so happy = happier but miserable = more miserable!) but continued use upsets the balance of chemicals in your brain causing depression, anxiety and paranoia.
Very occasional use can be a stimulant but by the sounds of things you are past that and are, in fact, a stoner!!
Quit now before it saps all your motivation and energy and you wake up an ageing hippy at 40 with no prospects and a large prescription for anti depressants!!

Just keep in mind that contrary to what you hear on the street it is NOT harmless. The active ingredients are fat soluable compounds and although the do get metabolized into decreasing concentrations they do remain in your body (like in your brain) for several days.

There's a wealth of information on good things about grass, misinformation we were all given as kids, and so on. My husband smokes grass. Has all his life. Never does other drugs. Great husband, father, provider. It has been invaluable in treating his depression as well as physical pain.
Marijuana is NOT physically addictive. You CANNOT overdose on marijuana.
