Ok..i got my husband some sunglasses at a kiosk in our mall today. They are a brand NYS Collection or something like that..
i got him the polarized ones thinking that was what he needed in iraq but then tonight he said he needs ones that arent going to give a shine or something and that are shatterproof.

will the ones i got work or do they have to be non glare (or reflection..whatever) and shatterproof on top of the polarized.

He needs to go to www.usstandardissue.com and create an account there. It's Oakleys milspec website. Not only is everything milspec, it's also about half price. All the lenses they have on there are ballistic grade. I bought from them a couple times when I was in Iraq.

No, they won't work. Last I heard, military regulations states that all sunglasses need to be black. Husband got some kind of notice via Command that every one needed to use them.
He should hit the PX or look at AAFES.com for some. There are some fantastic ones that basically encase the eye---helps keep the sand out. Can't recall the brand though.

I think my husband went thru like 5 pairs of glasses while there.

ETA: Smoker's top 2 on his list were the ones my husband got. He bought his over there, they weren't expensive at all for some reason.

What you want to give your husband are ballistic eye pro. They generally issue them, but if not Wiley X and Oakley make great ones with changeable lenses for different conditions. Dark lenses for daylight, clear for night, yellow for overcast days. You can check out actiongear.com (brigade quartermasters website) or US Cavalary .com for good gear. I got my replacement lenses there, but I was issued Oakley M frames and Wiley Xs in theater. I know you've seen the pics of why you should wear your eye pro when standing outside the chow hall ( or d fac as the kids call it) where the soldiers face was peppered with shrapnel and the only unaffected area was what was covered by his eye pro. I wouldn't recommend anything to anyone unless it was something I myself use. Bottom line end of story. I don't wear cheap stuff because it looks cool, but I will wear someting that'll get me home with all my parts unless God has other plans for me.

No. Do not get those. They will not be authorized for wear off the FOB IAW MNC-I policy. There are certain Personal Protective Eyewear that is authorized for wear in theater.

The ones I know about are:

Oakley Ballistic M-Frames
Wylie-X
ESS
UVEX
