Head and Shoulders shampoo, or Denorex will kill fleas on your puppy, also, you will need to treat your house for fleas too, or they will be right back on him within minutes of his bath. The vets office has sprays to treat the house. Flea collars are worthless, I have groomed for 14 years and have seen fleas, ticks and other bugs living under flea collars, so don't waste your money on those, if you want to keep fleas off, get frontline from your vet.

I'm a big fan of Garlic and Brewer's Yeast as a food supplement to help keep fleas at bay; you can find it at any Petco or Petsmart and it's very inexpensive. As for a treatment once the dogs have fleas, Dirty & Hairy makes an all-natural flea shampoo that works wonders and smells fantastic. It's citronella based, however, so make sure your puppy has no allergy to the product before applying the shampoo to its entire body. If you do have a flea problem and neither solution is giving you long term relief, get in touch with your local holistic veterinarian - they'll be able to help you find an all-natural, puppy-safe solution that meets your needs.

Diatomaceous earth - natural, but not safe, and certainly won't work. It's very abrasive, it's not supposed to be applied directly to an animal!!
Johnson's/any shampoo - not natural, probably safe, but won't kill fleas.
Garlic - will not get rid of fleas, and not advisable to feed to such small pups, too easy to get to the toxic dose I would think.
You have to get flea treatments from a vet, because they're the only ones that work. Pet store treatments do not work, and are frequently dangerous. 'Natural' treatments will not deal with fleas - flea are far too tough to bother wafting herbs and stuff at them!
There's only one safe treatment for pups under 8 weeks, that actually works - the spray version of Frontline. It can be used from 2 days of age (unless the animal are premature or debilitated in some way, goes without saying really).
Please go and get some Frontline spray and don't waste your time with 'natural' treatments - I presume you're worried about safety, and of course you should be - which is why Frontline spray was invented.

You can use Johnsons Baby Shampooh. It worked for my pups. You cant find shampooh in the stores that you can use on a pup less than 12 weeks old. But, vacumme and wash up your house to remove the fleas in carpet ect....I also put a flea coller on the pups when they got big enough about six weeks old.
God bless!!!

You cannot treat pups for fleas until AT LEAST 6 weeks old. Once they turn 6 weeks old then you can bathe them in Dawn non-ultra dish liquid. You also cannot treat the mother dog for fleas until her pups are 8 weeks old.

ask your vet about diamaceous earth. It is fed to horses and other animals so it is not harmful and I was told it dehydrates fleas.
