Ok here's the situation. Ive had braces since I was in 8th grade. I am now in 11th grade, and still have them. Last year my orthadontist said dont use the o rings anymore if you dont like the colors. BUT EVER since they have been off it feels like my teeth havent moved...AT ALL. Common I have 1 gap and they come off...JUST ONE. Tell me how shady this sounds...I tell them to put a chain up top...and he said no. I asked him to put the O rings back on...he said no he's not gonna do that. I JUST WANT THEM OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!

3 YEARS IN BRACES IS NOT UNHEARD OF. YOUR CASE WAS COMPLICATED, THAT'S WHY IT TOOK LONGER.YOUR ORTHODONTIST IS VERY BRIGHT. HE DIDN'T ALLOW YOU TO HAVE A CRAPPY OUTCOME.
ANYTHING GOOD WORTH HAVING IS WORTH WAITING FOR.

Uh... ok... From what I could understand your orthodontist took off either your ligatures or your elastics because you didn't like the colors along with your powerchain and you are telling him to put them back on and he says no.

Maybe ask him why he's doing this and when he's planning on removing your braces? If he doesn't tell you go get a second opinion from another orthodontist.

Well...He knows best. He isnt dumb or anything like that. You probably haven't been doing SOMETHING right. Ask what you can do to get them off sooner at your next appointment. He doesn't even have to be there helping you get the perfect teeth you want.

EDIT:He probably has plans to move them a DIFFERENT way. I know sombody who have had their braces for 16 years. Stop complaining.

When you turn 18, since I assume your parents are ok with this, you can just have them take them off.

I did. One side moved until it was pretty much closed, but the other side never moved. I got sick of it and had them taken off.

I never felt I needed them. I had an over bite but was always told how beautiful my smile was. So I wasn't exactly worried.

maybe ur ortho was being sarcastic about the o rings (ligatures) or powerchains. the o rings is what holds the wire into the bracket. without it the wire has a tendency to pop out. most likely he just needs to pay off that new bentley and is using you for those payments

tell him to explain why he doesnt use the o rings or the powerchain and if you dont get answers get a second opinion

He can't be that dumb. He is collecting thousands of dollars from you (and from everyone else you see filling his office waiting area when you are there).
