I saw my cousin one time in broad daylight approach the front door of my Aunt's house. Only the door never opened. So I went around the kitchen to see what he was doing on the front porch. He wasn't there.
He was at work still.
After having experiences with the demonic when I was a child and later on in life after this incident, I do not see these things as ghosts. How could they be ghosts if the person is still alive? So I reasoned that these things were spirits, I figure that at least most of the time it is demonic activity.
The reason why they might want to do this is to confuse the world about spiritual matters. They want people to believe in ghosts. They do not want them to think that the Bible is right, God is the truth, and that it is appointed for man once to die. I figure that these beings are somehow weakened since Jesus took some of their power and authority away, I would say all of it except they still seem to be able to affect the world.
So I see what happened to you very similar to what happened to me. I was not a Christian at the time. Now that I am I have an understanding as to what these things might be according to the Bible, which I value very much.
