I didn't think corn dogs could be trained. ????? They just lay there on the plate without any movement. How is this going to help you with hunting?

EDIT: Oh... whoops.... you said Coon Dog. Sorry. My dyslexia gets the best of me sometimes. Don't know anything about coon dogs. :-0

You haven't said what age of hound you wil be getting. I have hunted the masked critter since 1966 & the best way is to use a trained dog to start a young dog with. Allow the trained dog to strike & hot trail first, then turn the youngster loose. This works pretty well especially if the older & the younger dog are friends. One of the worst ways is to sic a coon on a young as this could scare the heck out of the pup.

I start coaching dogs as soon as i will be able to if I would i'd at three weeks of age. Now i am not talking about training to hunt however domestic dogs are sponges and can learn incredible quantities of things and the extra they gain knowledge of the rapid they study new things. Too unhealthy you missed all of the early coaching time.

Hunting is instinctive to Hunting Dog Breeds.* All you have to do is get the Dog out in the field to Hunt.* He will take to it like a duck to water.* There is no secret to training Hunting Dogs, just take them out and they do what comes naturally.*
