Hi,
The Catholic church as "all" Christian churches teach that sex outside of marriage is wrong and sinful to God. All the RC church is saying not to stop at the brothels on the road to Joburg or whore around in the mining camps with hookers. Keep your parts in your pants and you won't get AIDS. Is that not true?
That said, others encourage condoms anyway but to many African men it is very unmanly and like taking a hot shower in a raincoat. Hooker and their wives have repeatedly cried on TV that they are beaten if they do not comly for unprotected sex. That is more a cultural problem they need to get over and
blaming the churches just doesn't hold water.

That Sub-Saharan Africa lies in the grip of a vast AIDS epidemic is no secret to anyone. According to statistics published in 2006 by UNAIDS (the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS), an estimated 24.5 million people in the region were HIV-positive by the end of 2005, with 2.7 million contracting the virus in that year alone.
Desperate to stop the spread of this disease, which is well on its way to becoming the most destructive plague of all time, AIDS-stricken countries in Africa have turned to the West. The assistance they have received may have done more harm than good, however.
Secular-minded Western aid agencies have bombarded the continent with graphic sex-education programs and condoms. Yet, according to numbers published by UNAIDS itself (available here), HIV infection rates in Africa continue to climb, suggesting that such programs, instead of curbing the disease, are actually contributing to its spread by encouraging risky behavior.
Only one African country, Uganda, has successfully combated AIDS. No other country has experienced a comparable decline.
Only one African country, Uganda, has successfully combated AIDS. Its HIV prevalence rate has plummeted in recent years. Over 18% of the adult population tested positive for the AIDS virus in 1992. By the end of 2005, only 6.7% did. No other country has experienced a comparable decline.
How was this remarkable turnaround achieved? Western aid organizations, eager to justify their programs (and their funding), falsely attribute the decline to sex education and condoms. The Ugandans themselves tell a much simpler story. It can be summed up in one word: abstinence.

the epidemic is very sad and horrible. a lot of those women are raped and beaten and end up with the horrible disease. some of them have to make a living for their children by prostituting. if they were offered proper sex education and the tools to help that process I'm sure that the issue will decrease.
as a christian, i am not against the use of condoms or any kind of birth control. those people are not exposed to what we are exposed to.

We are not against condoms..Where in the world did you come up with that? OH, The Catholics.. I see. They have some strange views. In my humble opinion.. We Christains are NOT all Catholics Hon.
We think it is horrible... Just like you.. You know we are people too. We laugh and cry and we bleed. We are not perfect. God doesn`t expect perfection.. But we are no different than You..
Peace & God bless to You from Texas.<><

Illogical. Imposing their beliefs on others despite the startling realities and differences between a flourishing west and impoverished nations.

Forbidding Sex Ed = More Pregnant Teens = More abortions.
They'll do it anyways- might as well make sure they're smart about it.
Cause and effect. You'd think they'd figure that one out.

They don't think about it. As far as they're concerned, those people deserve it for the "life of sin" they're leading.
