I'm a senior in high school, I did a program last year and got around 15 credits towards an associates degree for criminal justice. I've always wanted to go to the Marines for at least 4 years, maybe longer depending how it went and if I liked it or not, and then coming out and being a police officer.

Would it be a better idea to finish my degree, I'll do that either way, and become a Police Officer and go reserves in the Marines or enlist in the Marines and become a Police Officer if I ever get out? Why?

i did four years active duty as a marine and now am a police officer. if school is your thing by all means do it... but you can survive without it.. and it was probably the simplest transition i made back into civilian life.

Why not, join the reserves while you are in college.

That way, you will have extra spending money, plus any college benefits they offer.

Then after you graduate, you can decide if you want to be a police officer and stay in the reserves,

Or try for a commission in the Marines.

Well one advantage of signing up is the college money you will get. Also you can become Military Police, and start getting both college credit and work experience.

On the downside there is a war on.

Either way you get my salute for considering service to our great country
