I heard that in October it was supposed to go to over the counter. This info came from a drug rep.. Does anyone have any info on this?

It has been OTC in Canada for a number of years. In the U.S., it appears that you'll have to show your ID to purchase it from "behind the counter." Check out this website:

Zyrtec will be going generic probably within the next 2-3 months in the U.S. In the time being you can get Claritin, Alavert, or Benadryl OTC to help with allergies.

I was told by my sons doctor it would be OTC soon but he did not say when. Now we have to wonder how much it will cost because it will not be covered by insurance.
