Ummmmm ... He did not even do it in person. He told me he had a surprise for me but did not tell me what. The next morning I woke up to a ring and a note that read, "I hope you like you're surprise." LOL... not exactly what I wanted but it is definately something I would have thought of him to do...

We went on an Italian adventure, ending in Venice. We walked a ways down from San Marco Piazza to a park on the edge of the lagoon. It was sunset and we could see the whole area with boats and buildings and people, all tinged red. He stood behind me and wrapped his arms around me as we looked together and there in front of me was the ring. I, of course, turned around to respond, and got very worried that in my haste to turn around I might have knocked the ring into the water. Thankfully, he held tight!

We were at our company christmas party, he set up this faux thing where him, and three other coworkers, and I had to get up and say some things about how awesome our company was.
So then we were standing up there in front of 400 people I'm last to go and everyone else just rambles some crazy stuff which I take them to be drunk he gets on there says "I've been with this company almost three years and you guys have been wonderful to me but my life is yet to be complete." In which he comes off the stage and kneels in front of me and asks in front of 400 people on camera "Will you marry me Ashley?"
I'm shocked, and NOTHING surprises me. This was so out of character he is the quietest person.
I was estatic, crying, shocked, and just plain happy.

Oh, this is sad. I've been married for almost 20 years, but the story of how my hubby proposed is the stuff legends are made of.
We were driving down the road one night, on our way home. Without even stopping the car, we had the following dialoge:
him: "So, when do you want to get your ring?"
Me: "What ring?"
him: "You know, your diamond ring. (hopefully) You mean I don't have to get you a diamond ring? Cool!"
me: (pauses a moment) "Are you asking me to marry you?"
him: "What do YOU think I'm asking?" (with a cocky grin)
me: (forgetting every girlish dream I ever had about being proposed to) "So, are we engaged?"
him: "Do you want to be engaged? (still cocky)
me: YES!
How lame is that???? LOL He's lucky I love him, huh? Because most girls I know wouldn't have put up with that. Bear in mind, this happens while he's driving down the road, he didn't even bother to pull over or stop the car.

We were going to see Blue Man Group for my husband's birthday and he had called ahead to have them put the proposal on the LED screen.
The funny thing was, I called to have them put his birthday up, and they almost spoiled the surprise.
His mom, and some of our friends were there. It was very sweet because he's not a public affection kind of guy.

One night after making love, we were lying in bed in the dark holding eachother, I told her "I never want to let go, I want to be with you forever." she got the hint and replied yes.
We got married Sept. 25 2007 =)

my brothers is so slick! He made a warm bath and put rose petals in the tub and wrote on the wall in glow in the dark paint "will you marry me?" he also put bubbles in with the ring at the bottom so she could only feel it. She got home from work to a candle bath she got in the tub and he blew out the candles. Serously no one has a better story than this.... my bf has to be slicker cuz I want some sweet story like this to tell
