Mimi,
zion can never allow a Palestinian state. Think of what that would mean for zion.
1. They cannot recreate the historical country of Israel along the original boundary. This is what they have been working for; for the last 60 years, and the reason for the occupation of Palestine. They will not just hand it back.
2. It would mean that all of the "settlers" would have to move back into ersatz israel. That is widely forecasted to be an event that would lead to bloodshed. Specifically the IDF would be given orders to move the "settlers" out. That would mean civil war.
3. Palestine would be considered a country internationally, which would afford it the protection it has not had to date.
4. Ersatz israel is privately owned (40%) by Palestinian people. By this I mean that they have legal deeds to that land. Ersatz israel would need to make civil recompense.
5. Palestine would always be a sword over the head of zion.
There has never ever been any attempt by zion to bring peace. Both zion and the US need instability in the region. If America wanted peace, it could have been had very easily.
If you really want to understand what is happening in ersatz israel, then listen to what Alan Hart has to say. His credentials speak for himself. Few people have had his experiences and been able to see what is happening from the inside. His website is

Peace ...Peace that is all i can hear
But Peace ...Peace I do not see
As the Blind lead the Bind into the Darkeness off Light
as the children weep and can never sleep
Like Sheep in the Dark do they stumble and tread
In a land full off hatred and Tears for the Dead
Sleep Sleep my child off Love for tomorow we'll be in the promised Land..
Its the people who live on the land who do make a country what it is.. and i do feel that as long as there are differences which exist in a society that is sooo mixed off Religion and Creed/greed there will be Never Peace.. I Am but sad to say..
Love Always ....and change the World forever

Mimi, think about all that you know about Jews and how much we cherish families, and children. You know a lot about Jewish culture etc, so you know this is true.
Now imagine how Jewish parents feel when their 18 year old daughters and son leave home to go to the army. Do you seriously believe that any parent is happy with this situation?
Of course not!
Believe me, Israelis do want peace. But the UN has risked Israel's security several times in the past. Next time you're reading up about the history of Israel etc, check out how the UN behaved. Israel can't trust the UN.
And let's not assume that the USA can or will guarantee the best thing for Israel either. They won't. But at least America does understand a bit about Israel's need for security.
I promise you, Israelis want peace. Rational people always want peace. It's only the hardliners - Jewish and Muslim - who you will ever find protesting against peace.

They do. But at what cost is this supposed "peace"? Giving away a huge chunk of land, then two weeks later rockets from the Arabs are back?
They have seen too many peace deals fail and they have had enough. It's a senseless process of faked smiles and handshakes, and peace never comes.
Treat it realistically, if negatively, there will be no peace. There has never been a cease-fire without the rockets being fired less than 24 hours later with Israel coming in to stop it, then the cycle is started again.
They've had enough of this fake peace/supposed cease-fire bullsh*t. They don't believe in it anymore, they don't believe peace can be made anymore.
Which makes my job all the more easy....once the people are convinced that peace will never work, it is easier to turn them to an Ultranationalist, hardliner extremist policy like that of my own. Muhahahahahahaha!
One could ask, why did the Arabs reject (Jews accepted) the UN partition plan of 1947? Didn't THEY want peace?

Hi Mimi
Israel wants peace, but one of the key points of the joint Israeli-Palestinian declaration at Annapolis was that the USA was to be the arbiter of the peace talks, not the UN.
Israel already has enough UN resolutions hanging over its head calling for it to unilaterally withdraw from occupied territory even though the results of doing so in Gaza were a disaster, so it doesn't need any more, and that is why we are not in favour of it being drafted into a UN resolution.
But that does not mean in any way that we have gone cold on the Annapolis agreement.
The key point is that Israel trusts the USA to ensure that the peace process will be conducted in a way which will not compromise our security; by comparison the UN seems to want to force a resolution without enough regard of the practicalities.

Edit to Hopeless: Me! But I wouldn't like to put a date on it...
Edit to B: Yes the USA is hardly impartial, but sadly nor is the UN. In the game of international politics, everyone has their own interests at heart at the end of the day...
Edit to mark: Olmert is committed and ready for peace, because his political survival now depends upon it. But yes he wants to cut the best deal possible from Israel's perspective, which is after all what negotiation is all about. (I wish that leaders could sit down together and go directly to agreeing a fair resolution rather than engaging in a long drawn-out bidding war, but that's just the way things are done unfortunately.) You say that Israeli security will be assured once the resolution is agreed, but what makes you believe that groups such as Hamas are ready to stand by such a peace deal? So far everything I have seen about them suggests that they are an utterly implacable enemy...

Israeli leaders are not ready for real peace yet. There were more than 50 UN member states at Annapolis conference and keep in mind the UN is full member of the quartet which is made of the USA and Europe and Russia. Israeli leader plan is to be the top dog all the time even in peace negotiation. But in peace negotiation as we know no one is on top both must be equally interested and committed to achieve peace at end. Both must understand that security of Palestine and Israel must exist and if Palestine is secured Israel will be secured too. The top god mentality will lead to more wars not peace and security for one side over the others.

The resolution consists of giving away majority of Israel. I believe everyone wants peace, but each country believes in their own type of peace. So it results in disagreements.
