Or is it possible that the prescribed pills in conjunction with the ravages of time, life, addictions, and alchool can cause some one to begin to shut down mentally? I do not mean depressed I mean fried, delusional, incapable of maintaining coherent thought and follow up actions. Wondering with cognitive recognition of time and responsibilities of children’s needs?

My wife has been clinically diagnosed Bi-polar, Partial personality disorder, and is an addict, primarily alcohol. She is on the full series of pharmaceuticals. Cymbalta, Seraquel, limictal, as well as a few other that are trying to return mind function. They appear to be working against her.

Sorry for the spelling

A person can "shut down mentally" because of addictions, alcohol and mental illness. If pills were prescribed inappropriately, they also can contribute to mental problems.
Long term alcoholism can cause all of the symptoms you describe in your second sentence. Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome is a brain disorder involving loss of specific brain functions caused by a thiamine deficiency. The cause is generally attributed to malnutrition, especially lack of vitamin B1 (thiamine), which is common in those with alcoholism.

Heavy alcohol use interferes with the break down of thiamine in the body, so even if someone with alcoholism follows a well-balanced diet, most of the thiamine is not absorbed and brain damage results, causing symptoms of memory loss, confabulation, vision changes, hallucinations and delusions, and loss of muscular coordination. A person in this condition is not competent to care for children and may have difficulty with time concepts.

Some of what you say is rather obscure and lacking in detail, I'm not sure of what you are trying to say. It seems more like a poem or a song that an actual question.

"The prescribed pills in conjuction with the ravages of time?" What do you mean? What kind of pills? "Responsiblities of children's needs?" What children? Are they your children or somebody elses?

If something is bothering you, maybe you should talk to a doctor.

PS: If you wife is diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, I have been around a lot of people with that diagnosis and they are always difficult and frustrating to treat and hardly ever respond well to treatment. If she carries that diagnosis, I hope for your sake that the doctor is wrong. If she is isn't constantly telling you she is leaving you, telling you she loves you more than anything and then turning around and saying she can't stand the sight to you--that's the way people with Borderline PD behave. Another major feature is to repeatedly threaten suicide when she doesn't get her way, self mutilation like cutting is common, so is binge eating. I have seen a lot of times where a psychitriatrist gives that as an additional diagnosis to someone with Bipolar Disorder and then later rules out Borderline because the person no longer shows those signs.
If she is still abusing recreational drugs, then it's almost 100% guaranteed that the medication given by the doctor won't help. Most psychiatrists won't bother with you if you don't quit street drugs--it's a waste of their time, frankly.

It sounds as if you may need to change your life and this time really do it. Our souls are the key to living. If you cannot show how you feel to others then you are not living through you soul. It is an amazing journey to discover your true self and if you begin this journey then, YES, I believe that ALL the negative feelings you have about life and the feeling of not really living truly will come to LIFE. Good luck!
