Matthew wrote his account in Palestine. The exact year is not known, but subscriptions at the end of some manuscripts (all later than the tenth century C.E.) say that it was 41 C.E. There is evidence to indicate that Matthew originally wrote his Gospel in the popular Hebrew of the time and later translated it into Greek. In his work De viris inlustribus (Concerning Illustrious Men), chapter III, Jerome says: “Matthew, who is also Levi, and who from a publican came to be an apostle, first of all composed a Gospel of Christ in Judaea in the Hebrew language and characters for the benefit of those of the circumcision who had believed.” Jerome adds that the Hebrew text of this Gospel was preserved in his day (fourth and fifth centuries C.E.) in the library that Pamphilus had collected in Caesarea.

65 YEARS AFTER CHRIST;;Although John’s writings themselves give no definite information on the matter, it is generally believed that John wrote his Gospel after his return from exile on the island of Patmos. (Rev. 1:9) The Roman emperor Nerva, 96-98 C.E., recalled many who had been exiled at the close of the reign of his predecessor, Domitian. After writing his Gospel, about 98 C.E., John is believed to have died peacefully at Ephesus in the third year of Emperor Trajan, 100 C.E.

"Image" and "likeness" refer only to appearance or similarity. A photograph or drawing of a person could be considered a likeness or image, as an example. A hunter's duck call may be very similar to that of a real duck. To expect that the photo or the drawing would share behavior traits with the person imaged, or that the duck call might lay eggs, would not make any sense.

The likeness mentioned in the passage refers to spirituality. Of all the biological creatures created, only humans have an accessible spirit, one that they can be aware of. The spirit that is the foundation of life, shared by all living creatures, is not one that can influence behavior or be held accountable. The spirit in a human does influence behavior and can be held accountable.

If you study enough, you may eventually discover that there is a dimensionality aspect of spirits that exceeds the physical dimensions our physical bodies inhabit. This transcendent dimensionality is a major part of what distinguishes members of the heavenly host from occupants of the corporeal cosmos.

In essence, being created "in the image of God" refers to the characteristics of the human spirit and the ability to make moral judgments - things that are not found in any animal species, even those to whom we are said to be closely related. In answer to why so many ethnic types, if all the people on earth were to intermarry freely, and then break into random groups that kept to themselves, a whole new set of gene combinations would emerge. Even today, within a particular people group you will often see a feature normally associated with another people group. For instance, you will occasionally see a European with a broad flat nose, or a Chinese person with very pale skin or Caucasian eyes. Most scientists now agree that, for modern humans, "race" has little or no biological meaning. This also argues strongly against the idea that the people groups have been evolving separately for long periods.

Yes, every quote that is stated in the bible should be true especially if Jesus Christ has made these types of quotes. Also, if this scripture is known to be a question of misunderstanding, when we as people don't take the time to personal know Father God ( our creator) and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It can be very confusing if you don't continue read the bible and studying about the teachings of the bible. If Lord Jesus Christ is the three and one meaning the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit then how can the creator or our Lord can be imperfect. For more questions you can email or continue to ask the faith believers of Christ.

Well let me answer you with this...if God is the one that defines sin, then how can he sin himself?

He has already determined what His goals are, made His blueprints, and begun the process...to work against them by 'sinning' Himself would be foolish...just like if we had finally acheived a state in our lives that we strived for, and then knowingly did something to destroy it before accomplishing what we set out to do...we are made in His image, yes...but we lack His infitite knowledge, understanding, and omnipotence, yet we also have the capacity to truly learn through the gift of free will (or not).

I guess the answer is God wouldn't have sinned...he's smarter than us.

God is perfect and man was made in the image of God. A photograph is an image. God gave man free will and and man was without sin until God was disobeyed. When man disobeyed God's law, then man become a sinner. God would never be tempted to sin because he is perfection and hates sin.

No, God is perfect.......He never sinned, he doesn't sin, and he will NEVER sin.

Did you ever watch the movie the passion of christ? Did you see how much pain and agony jesus was on the cross? That is how much God HATES sin.

And secondly, Man was born PERFECT, just like God was.

But Satan came down and tempted adam to sin, and he did.....cursing us all

Not many people realize this but we were supposed to live forever, and to be perfect like God.....we were supposed to live lives like angels, full of happiness with no sorrow nor evil.

But the price of sin is death. As soon as Adam took that bite out of the apple and dissobeyed God, the whole forest became dark and infectious, and we were all cursed to live hard lives and DIE.

Remember, angels were also created in God likeness but they never sinned.......we were supposed to live forever like angels but adam messed up, and cursed us all! =(

Interesting question.....
I suppose the argument there is that sin is a result of man's free will, a gift from God and not due to man's likeness of God.
Don't forget, however, that according to Catholics, it was Eve who sinned first. That's why women have to endure the pain of childbirth. It also explans why babies who die before baptism go to a special place in hell. They are born tainted by the 'Original Sin'.
One of many reasons I am a recovering Catholic.....

Not one piece of the Canon was written even 200 years after the birth of Jesus, much less 400. I cannot imagine where people get their misinformation.
