1 Corinthians Chapter 11
1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
2 1 I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you. 3 But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and a husband the head of his wife, and God the head of Christ.
4 Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered brings shame upon his head.
5 But any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled brings shame upon her head, for it is one and the same thing as if she had had her head shaved.
6 For if a woman does not have her head veiled, she may as well have her hair cut off. But if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should wear a veil.
7 A man, on the other hand, should not cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man.
8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;

Some Christian women do follow this, some do not. I cover my hair all waking hours pretty much. I can't answer why Christian women do not cover, they should but people can interpret the Bible anyway they want if they are protestant Christian I guess....
EDIT: You guys saying this is not in the Bible please read 1 Corinthians chapter 11

So....the Catholics say they should but they don't....hmmm.

Okay, quite frankly I'm not certain about this, but my guess is that, as Paul is speaking to the Corinthians, that this is some kind of cultural issue and would not apply today.

HOWEVER...I could be wrong and God might want women to cover their heads WHEN THEY PRAY OR PROPHESY (1 Corinthians 11:4)....however, I would imagine that there are many, many, many more vital issues He would want us to observe (i.e., loving God with our whole heart, soul, and mind, loving our neighbor as ourselves, etc.).

I would imagine that if this is something God wants us to do, He will deal with us on an individual basis about it.

That was for a certain circumstance where 2 women were doing everything possible to interrupt the worship services at Corinth with their traditions and ungodly lives and bringing them into the church. The same place tells the Catholic priests they cannot have anything covering their heads. and you asked a Catholic priest why he debased the church by wearing something on his head, I guess?

Well, times long ago(when the bible were different) had different cultures and traditions. So, do you were suits and stuff like they did back in the day every day? no. So why should we wear that.
Also the bible was written BY PEOPLE of time long ago like I said. Im Catholic but those things may change from then to now.

I do cover my head and I know of others that do.I cover my head all day. Prayer for me is an ongoing venture. Unfortunately many Catholics have been mislead and truly believe that Vatican II removed the requirement. The Church chose not to "rock the boat" and now it is a personal choice.

Abolished in his flesh…. commandments contained in ordinances

Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Ephesians 2:15
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Divine Headships

1 Corinthians 11:7
For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. 9Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 10For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head… because .......of the angels

This passage gives us instructions regarding the head covering of Christian women. The underlying truth is that of headship, as clearly expressed in verse

..............................3, "But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God."

God-Christ-Man ... Angels

What about these Angels? Good or Evil?

Evil…why, who are the sons of God…fallen angels…what did they do to women?

Genesis 6:2
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

Job 1:6
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

This speaks volumes…Angels knew the headship

Paul goes on to say: 11Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. (for protection, one should be looking out for the other)

This answers the question why men’s heads didn't need to be coved.

?if you believe that the bible is the word of God why don't Christian women follow it?..

EDIT: No…are you going against the cross? Do you practice what Jesus abolished? You don't understand the doctrine of Grace?
You are just trying to corrupt the word of God? Mocking?

EDIT: Jesus decided, when he purchased us at the cross.

you didn't read IT RIGHT.

after Christ the rules and regulation of these sort are superfical.
NOW in new testament..come to think of it.
long hair is a covering.
yet a woman should not being wearing a TALL HAT or WIDE BRIM HAT..nobody can see the preacher.

what i remember..i believe when the lady pray..i believe she much be covered of the head.
but do keep in mind..paul was preaching..to some city where woman were sexy ? or glamorous and distracting..to men nature.

The man's covering is Christ and the women's covering is her husband. That was a custom of that country. Our covenant with Jesus has set us free from such things.

they don't follow much of their book.
education: Jesus NEVER claimed to be divine. His divinity was created 400 years later, as was most of what's in the bible, by Emperor Constantine in an effort to control Christians... if Jesus was divine, none of us mere mortals could question caesar's authority as they thought Jesus did...
Go ahead, deny history, religious wack jobs are good at that
ps i believe in a creator

I'm Christian (though the fundamentalists would say differently). And I gotta say, I applaud this kind of question.

Call it to the carpet, bro! And "bros" and "sis's" :)

This is how we intellectually grow and learn.... and it is how our faith grows as well.

Great question!

peace respect regards
