Bipolar disorder used to be called manic depression and that is a pretty good description of it. A person with bipolar disorder cycles between highs, which are called mania, and lows known as depression. Here's some more info:

When you're bipolar you have two moods:

Manic:

This is when you think you can do anything and you might spend a ton of money on some goal that is nearly impossible. Or, in some bad cases, you might be convinced that you know how to fly and might try. You're extremely happy and sure of yourself.

Deppressive: You're extremely sad, don't want to go anywhere, and have unusual eating sleeping and eating habits. You have no desire to do anything.

It is caused by a chemical inbalance in your brain.

Bi-polar is a chemical inbalance in your brain, it something that you cannot control without medication. You are born with it and it will stay with you for the rest of your life. It is nothing to be ashamed of. Would you be ashamed if you were born with one leg longer than the other? It is not quite the same, but you have no control over either. If you have been diagnosed with bi-polar, then you need to take medication to assist in helping the brain regulate the chemicals that it produces. I have first hand knowledge, as I am bi-polar. I wish you the best for the future (there is one, no matter how bad you feel on a "downer".)
I hope you find all the support that you need.

Bipolar disease (also known as Manic Depression) is a terrible illness . My dad had it when I was about five, and I remember when he hit my mom, and one of the nights he got arrested again, he was beating off the cops and he would just threaten everyone. It is basically an illness that brings out the worst in you.
Som symptoms include:
-Seductive behaior
-Constant Urination
-Being very angry all the time

I can't remember anymore, but it is just a disease that makes you, well, depressed and very angry. Hope this helped your understanding.

manic depressive disorder- it's when a person has an imbalance of chemicals in their brain; so sometimes they'll be normal and sometimes they'll have manic periods which is where they have a lot of energy and they can do a lot of stuff; other times, they'll have a depressive cycle where they're depressed. edgar allen poe was bipolar and wrote some of his best works during his manic period...it's trated with lithium.
