My employer and I have the understanding that my gross will stay the same each bi-weekly check, but I want to make sure that she is taking out the right amount of taxes because I get paid by check and I don't get a paystub. She recently informed me that she has me claming my 2 kids and myself. It all seems confusing to me. I wanted to claim 0 dependents all year, so that the end of the year I would get back more money.
Can anyone give me a breakdown on the where my money goes and how much goes there,so that I know that my boss is not getting over on me. I would also like to know what the breakdown would be like if I claimed 0 dependents bi-weekly.

Thanks so much

please hold as i research your issue.
Your current deductions @ $819.00 per bi-weekly pay period, if claiming Single with 2 allowances on your W4 should be:

Federal $53.97
SS $50.78
Medi $11.88

At single-3
Federal $34.57
SS $50.78
Medi $11.88

At Single-0
Federal $93.20
SS $50.78
Medi $11.88

your state and local deduction change based on what state you live in. If you tell me what state you live in, I can help you more throughly.

Also, download a new W-4, and submit it to ur boss, showing you what your deductions should be, and he should forward it to the payroll department or company, and they will make the changes. contrary to what some people think, the way you claim your wages, does not affect your employer at all, his taxes will still be the same, regardless of what you decide to have withheld from your check.
I am including a link for you to download a W4.

The fact that you don't get a check stub seems suspicious though. If you don't get a stub, your boss may be planning on claiming that you are an independent contractor, and as such, you are being paid a service based fee, rather than an hourly, or salary based wage. if this were the case though, than ABSOLUTELY nothing should be deduted from your pay check each week, as it would be your responsibility to pay any thing you are liable for yourself.

With the end end of the year so close, I would hold off on further investigation for now, and see what your W-2 says at the end of the year. if it seems accurate, let it be for now.

If it seems grossly incorrect, or worse yet, if she doesn't give you one at all, you are being taken advantage of.
Unless, she gives you a 1099 instead of a W2, in which case, she is blatantly stealing from you.

wait til end of January, and see what happens.

Something sounds really fishy here. I'd be very concerned as to whether your boss is depositing the taxes properly, since she's doing a lot else wrong and illegally.

First of all, she can't just decide how many allowances to use for you, she is required to have you fill out a W-4 form.

Secondly, she is required to give you a paystub. And without one, you have no proof that anything was withheld, so if she's playing games here, you are going to be seriously out of luck. And if she is taking out properly for you and your two kids, sounds like she's taking out way too much, unless your deductions include more than taxes, like medical insurance or something like that.

Since you don't say where you live, there's no way to tell you what should be deducted. Please post again with that added info and somebody can answer your question better.

Tell her you need a paystub showing each deduction and how much it is. If she refuses to give that to you, call your state department of labor and tell them what's going on.

On a biweekly check of $819, there should be a deduction for social security and medicare of $62.65. With three allowances your federal income tax deduction should be somewhere around $25 each pay.

I'd start looking for a new job.

She should really be giving you a pay-stub with all of this information written out for you. It doesn't sound to me that she is using your children as a deduction. Honestly, instead of giving all this money to the government to use for a year why not use your standard deductions and put the difference in a savings account. It would at least be collecting interest.

There could be other deductions as well as taxes that lower your net pay. If you go the the website IRS. gov and pull down the pull the publication circular e. There is table in there that shows how much federal taxes you should pay.

http://www.irs.gov/publications/p15/index.html.

State is little harder but it an also be done. A similar document would exist on the state website you reside in.

Why do you not get a stub showing all deductions?? That just doesn't sound right. I think any employer is required by law to show you that information.

You need to insist on paycheck stubs or statements. This is fundamental. Smells fishy to me.
