How can a girl work out, without actually gaining a ton of muscle. I like doing a bunch of crunches and stuff for my stomach, but I don't want abs! I just don't want to get fat, haha. Lately, I'll work out for a few months, feel too muscular, and then have to stop for a few months. Is there a way to stay fit, and not gain muscle?!

Well the answer depends on a lot of things. The shorter (the cuter) you are, the easier it is for you to put on muscle, while a taller person will not do it so easily

Loss of fat comes from exericse that burns calories (walking burns as much calories as jogging per distance...obviously jogging does it faster).

Intensive workouts are going to burn fat fast, but will also make you build up muscles. Maybe exercise longer, but slower.

You don't need to concentrate on an area that is a little fat, just do a general workout. You exercise your stomach you lose fat from everywhere, but you build up stomach muscles.

Girls naturally have a thin layer of fat, if you lose all fat then you look muscular, so don't over exercise.

Finally, for health and fitness you need cardio, that makes your heart beat faster.

I would go for balance, exercise everything and do what you enjoy. Dancing, cycling, walking and playing sport are things I enjoy so I do them offer. Other things I dont, so I don't them.

Keep the weight you are lifting light, and reps normal.. Don't worry about ABS you might get ABS that you can see after doing your crunches, but unless your really lean less than 13% bOdy fat your abs muscles won't bulge.

Diet and Exercise is 80% diet and 20 exercise. It doesn't take much exercise to stay fit,, but you must watch your calorie in-take to maintain a healthy body weight.

Crunches don't prevent you from gaining fat on your stomach. They work stomach muscle only.

If you wish to avoid fat on the stomach, you need to keep your diet in check.

Muscle gain doesnt happen overnight. Train to the level you are happy with then tone down the intensity.

If you dont want a lot of muscle, then just do cardio, and work outs that tone, not build bulk. For toning, do less weight, and more reps. For cardio, do it when you wake up, before you've eaten breakfast
