The allergic reaction is a eczema like reaction over his trunk, arms and legs. But it's only when he drinks a cup or more. He's okay with a bit in his cereal. Any thoughts? (I am overall very familiar with food allergies as he has several. He's never tested postive for milk though)

the bacteria in cheese and yogurt reduce the lactose in milk and make them easier to digest. Most people are lactose intolerant and the intolerance builds up over time. I also cannot drink more than a half glass of milk but I can eat plenty of yogurt and cheese. I don't know if it is sold anymore but if you can find milk with bifidus added, your son will most likely be able to tolerate milk better. hope this helps!

Yogurt is milk, but the chemical properties are slightly different because of the reaction with the bacteria that cause yogurt to form.

Maybe he can tolerate it because this chemical reaction has taken place when milk changes to yogurt.

Or maybe he is allergic to some kind of additive in the milk, but not the milk itself.

Just a thought.

He might be reacting to a growth hormone in milk. I know that Bordens and Schepps say on the label that no growth hormones are used in their cows, and Walmart and Albertsons brands don 't. I read something a while back about how sick a little girl got from drinking this and I have been buying Bordens ever since.
