I live in North Carolina, and don't know how to find legislative regulations on protests.

Protesters are usually lazy college kids. So 8"x11" would do, easy to carry!

I don't know but I use a full size hard poster :-) Big enough to put your message on and big enough for them to read.

Happy woman, you are dead wrong. Every illegal immigration protest I went to were older Americans that took time off of work to stand for something they believe in. Or... they were Veterans, some in wheelchairs that fought to keep our freedom to protest what we don't or do believe in. The lazy ones are those that sit on their butts doing nothing!

If you don't stand for something, you stand for nothing.

In some places, yes. And in some places you also need a permit to protest or organize civilly. You need to check with the town's city hall.
