Then, if we lose our "freedom of choice", have we lost our "humanity"?

Why would a person or a Government or a Religion take away our "freedom of choice"?

(Is it really a choice if someone says you can choose "me" or face dire circumstances.)

when the choice is put across with an attitiude that there is no consequences for either of your choices than you run into trouble when there is a consequence to be paid either by you or someone else in either the here and now or in the "future".

Hi, how's it goin'? Good to see ya.

Yes Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are not closer to the Sun than the Earth that is correct by the same token Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants (i.e.) they don't have ice caps at all, and never did. Mars southern pole is reducing, cause unknown, it has been put forward by 1 Russian scientist that this proves the Sun is the cause, only problem is none of the satellites that monitor the Sun (and have for 30 years) show this increase in output And as for learning about global warming from "David de Rothschild" I had never heard of him before this question.

I think that with proper programming, a robot could be made to have free will. I think what makes us so different is our emotions, our need for love, our ability to make mistakes, the fact that we can regret and hate. The fact that even when we learn from something we don't always necessarily make the right choice the next time.
As far as the government...well...they were made to govern. What else can I say?

Well, I don't think it's the free choice that seperates us from robots. If it's the kind of robots I'm thinking of, humans have flesh, blood, and an organ system supporting our life.

Robots have programming, metal (or some such resource), and tech stuff.

Government doesn't like rebels.

That's just it: It's *not* a choice, to begin with -- or at least, society attempts to con us into believing we have a choice, while at the same time persuading us that there is only one "right" choice.

Technically speaking, we *do* have a choice. BUT, when you think about it: The way society emphasises certain things, they make it seem as if the choice is obvious, and we *must* make the right choice, or face torment. Simultaneously, they seemingly attempt to alter our idea of the term "choice," making it seem as if it really is a true choice.

It's complicated.

It's like "You had to be there," only... ehm.. different.

O.O

God gave us the mental abilities, such as the powers of perception, reason, and judgment that work in harmony with free will. These enable us to think, weigh matters, make decisions, and distinguish right from wrong. (Hebrews 5:14) We were not created to be like mindless robots that have no will of their own.

On the other hand, God gave us freedom of choice, but not without limits. For example, not many would care to drive an automobile in heavy traffic if there were no traffic regulations (no limits) and where you were free to drive in any lane, in any direction, or at any speed, because the results of such unlimited freedom in traffic would be catastrophic. In fact, unlimited freedom for some would mean no freedom for others. Unrestricted freedom can result in anarchy, which damages everybody’s freedom. There must be limits. Therefore, God’s gift of freedom does not mean that he purposed for humans to behave in any manner without considering the welfare of others. He did not purpose for humans to have total freedom, but relative freedom, subject to the rule of law, God’s laws.

In addition, just as we obey the laws of gravity and normally we don’t jump off high places so we don’t get injured or killed, we should obey God’s laws for our own benefit. God’s laws, more than any code of laws that could be devised by humans, provide the very best guide for everybody. As Isaiah 48:17 states: “I, Jehovah, am your God, the One teaching you to benefit yourself, the One causing you to tread in the way in which you should walk.” Yet, at the same time, God’s laws allow for a wide scope of freedom within their boundaries. This allows for much personal choice and variety.

So, one can choose not to obey God and “face dire circumstances”, just as one can choose to jump off a cliff and face death. On the other hand, one can choose to obey God and be compensated with eternal happy life here on earth…(Psalm 37:29) If one chooses the last option stated here, where is the problem?

I am glad I have freedom of choice to answer your question! I do think humanity is wrapped up in the ability to chose. We do not just act on instinct, but also on reason. We need to preserve that right! (((((Uncle!)))))

If by "choise" you mean abortion the only freeing choise is not to kill the preborn baby. The government ,religions and organizations should do all they can to prevent abortion and the other ways of taking innocent human life.

It is *not* really much of a "choice" when someone is told to do it this way, believe this way, etc. or face dire circumstances.

It is your choice to chose to give up choice, it is their choice to make you chose to have no choice of your own, so they can chose for you.

In the end, we're all mindless puppets putting on a show for God, Satan, & Jesus.
