Is it the man's job because he put it up in the first place?

or the woman's job so she doesn't fall in?

is this only a big deal to women because men wouldn't mind falling into the toilet disoriented from sleep in the dark in the middle of the night?

or is it only a big deal to women because it doesn't happen to men, therefore they have nothing to complain about when it comes to toilet seats?

but men don't HAVE to stand up to pee. they just have that option.

so maybe if they don't want to deal with toilet seat issues they should sit down every time.

Its basically only a big deal to women because guys don't trully care about those type of issues. In a perfect society it would be the gentlemen's job since its a form to show appreciation for the ladies just like opening doors etc.

I wish that it were the man's job, but that's probably only my view because I'm female.

It depends on the household and who is using the toilet the most. If there are more guys in the family then they shouldn't have to put it down since, chances are, another man will just put it back up. If there are more girls, then the guy should realize that the next person to use it will need it down so he should put the seat down himself.

We are each responsible for making the environment around us fit our needs. Speaking generally, and not to you specifically: If you haven't learned how to manage a toilet seat, then take about 3 seconds and learn it. Even a natural blonde should be able to learn that much. If you need the toilet seat down, put it down. Don't be such a helpless primadonna that you have to pester the man who was kind enough to lift it before he conducted his business there.

It's the man's job. it's not like it's hard. Just slide your hand over after you flush and flip the thing down. I, however find it worse when they try to avoid the situation by not lifting it in the first place. Yes, guys, some of it does get on the seat.

Note: The seat and the lid are two different things. The lid is what covers the whole thing. the seat is the area you sit on when you lift the lid.

You know what? I hear all the time about women complaining that the seat was left up, but NEVER have I heard a man complain that a woman left the seat down.

Look first, if HE didn't put it down, you should.

I think its whoever lives in the house holds responsibility, because men have to sit down on the seat at some point as well, and I'm sure women aren't the only people to have fallin in.

The toilet seat should be put down as well as the lid before flushing....in order to keep tiny particulates from splashing out onto the floor.

Assuming that the toilet is flushed each time it is used...then the one who flushes it ...for sanitary reasons.

For simply appearance both male and female should be putting down the lid.

For etiquette, at the very least men should put down the seat and women should reset the car seat.

Growing up in a house with 2 women, I learned from an early age to put the seat back down or face the horrific consequences. It is the responsibility of men and women.

Well we have a quiet toilet seat, so that when you put it down you don't slam it. The cat got sick once and we think it was because she was drinking out of it. So we have to keep it down because of her.
It is the mans responsibility to put it back down because that is not the normal position of the toilet.

whoever is going to use the damn thing next should be competent and aware enough to look at what they are about to sit their naked butt on to, I have to put it down before I go poo, even though I am the one who lifted it. Why do women get so naggy and pissed about something that takes less than a second to accomplish, with one finger, is totally done by gravity itself once the finger is removed, and doing it means you are aware of your surroundings... I dont get it, Women need to stop wasting their breath on little stupid insignifincant things like the goramed toilet seat, OPEN YOUR EYES BEFORE YOU SIT DOWN... easy as that
