I dreamt that I was walking down a local street, where I often shop, and instead of cars along the curb, there were large, mahogony caskets lined up. They were all closed and I didn't see anyone in them. Just shiny, large caskets along the road. Any ideas what this could mean? It was rather vivid and there are a couple of members of my family who are sick. Could this be a bad omen?

I completely disagree with others telling you it's a warning/premonition, etc. How do they know if it is an omen or not?

It sounds like an upsetting dream. Perhaps it is just your internal anxieties over your sick family members...you're probably concerned about them and fearful of the worse.

Sending a prayer and a hug your way.

CJ, dreams are very symbolic, but only you can interpret what your dreams mean to you. As to this dream: You were on a familiar street. You mentioned shopping. What do caskets mean to you? Why would you see this in a familiar, comfortable setting.
Yes, caskets can mean death, but your brain did not open the caskets in your dream or settle on any one person layed to rest in the caskets. The casket itself may have been the symbol. You mention the detail of "mahogany" to describe the caskets. What does mahogany mean to you? Where have you seen this before? Where have you seen caskets before, that were mahogany?
If you can answer those questions you may be able to get a clue as to what your mind is trying to tell you in your dream. Why would a casket take the place of a car to you? Cars are driven by live people and are see through with windows and doors on them. Caskets don't drive themselves and hide contents inside--there are no doors or windows, or handles inside them. Hmmmmm.
Try to remember the emotions you had when you woke up from the dream. Did you feel panicky, sad, weirded out, angry? Your feelings about the dream can help solve why you had the dream. Take time, it will make sense.
If you are having some problem or anxiety in your life, you will have other dreams that manifest that. Your dream does NOT have to mean that someone in your life is going to die. But, perhaps you have anxiety about someone dying, since you mention sick family members, and your mind is saying how disturbing it would be to you to lose a family member when they are so "familiar" to you (as the setting was in your dream).....just like being in a familiar place like the street you were on, and looking around to see familiar cars but seeing coffins instead.
Hmmmmm....ask yourself the questions and then listen to your own answers. Dreams are interesting ways your mind is working things out with you. Take care.

Are you scared of death? This dream may be presenting you with your fear of death. "Local" and "sick family members" may be a sign that someone close to you will fall ill or possibly pass away.

To see a coffin in your dream, symbolizes the womb. If the coffin is empty, then it suggests that you are having some irreconcilable differences.

caskets can mean a feeling of confinement. it could also mean death but not necessarily a physical death but a death of a part of you or something...
