I know you can take pics like this (the swirls of light, etc.) with a regular digital camera, but I have no clue how! Please help!

y would u want to include the swirls. it just makes the pics look worse.

Put your camera on Slow Sync Flash.
(Another way is to put your camera on Manual Exposure and take a flash pic with a slow shutter speed.)
Zoom in/out, twist camera etc. to achieve different results.

The shutter speed was slow, it's called dragging the shutter.

just take the picture and edit it on the computer
