the bible STILL wouldn't make any sense but there'd be %75 more crying and drama.

Wouldn't have made a difference. People were going to believe whether it was a man, a woman, a potato chip, whatever. The need was there, so the actual content doesn't matter.
Many polytheistic deities were women.

Yes and No.
I mean I would still be atheist because invisible beings up in the sky that control everything and know all my thoughts just does not seem possible, no matter what gender you assign to it.
But it would definitely make Christianity seem more likable. I doubt if "God" was a "Goddess" that she would have destroyed the earth with floods, send bears off to murder little children, command Moses to invade cities of his enemies and take their virigin girls as prizes for his troops.

You are confusing the Jews with Christians. There is neither male or female in the Father. Christians didn't come into play until Jesus was sent to this earth to be tortured, crucified and arose from the dead.

No - because they wouldn't have gained supporters of the "male elitist" kind in the first place then and it wouldn't be as widespread as today.
Quite depressing actually...
Edit: Personally, it would have been easier to believe if God had no gender.

No, I don't think it would have made a difference. If that is what God had chosen then it would have been the right gender...as it is he chose male. So that was the right gender.

yes,,,more people like the idea of the Goddess if given a choice. That was the first idea of god. Wiccan is the oldest religion.
