I have broken and redone my computer a million of times simply coz the important stuff is backed up elsewhere....Here's the deal:
1. I was manually deleting suspicious .exe files in my C:/WINNT folder and its subfolders.
2. I disabled some services while trying to iron out a task manager bogging process.
3. Can't remember the number of services I disabled.
4. After a reboot, I am prompted for Username/Password Combo-instead of "loading my profile" I am returned to the same "username./password prompt. Doesn't work with the F8 submodes either just returns the same error.

(Just regular workgroup no networking)
5. Million $$$$$ Question:
What service is the culprit in this scenario
6. What's the way out of this? I don't happen to have a Windows 2K CD on me...

No

I think winlogon.exe is still there....coz the computer goes ahead and says "loading personal settings"...Not sure if lsass is functioning correctly or perhaps on of the "dependency" services.
