You don`t trust the interpreters. You trust God. He knows what it says. He also knows your heart. He knows that you are doing, what you think, he, has said to do. He does NOT hold us accountable for the writers mistakes. He holds the writers accountable.. So, just do what is the best you can do and leave the rest to him. He never asked for perfection. He doesn`t expect perfection... He loves us just the way he made us.. He doesn`t ask for anything but the best we can be.. You can have your own understanding, But Hon, You have to start with some kind of basic beginnings. We all follow the path, but we take different shortcuts.. You MUST be able to communicate with God.. He CAN hear you. He answers you with the word amongst other ways.. Thus the need for reading the bible.. It is basic instructions.. You don`t become a brain surgeon from reading one book. You must learn and grow as you go.. But without any kind of base plan, You are going blind..
Please drop me a note if I can be of assistance..
Peace & God bless from Texas. <><

By all means, you should study the Bible itself. It is not just written by men, and God had men write his words down for a reason. You should definitely speak to God when you read the Bible, asking for his help to understand if you are having trouble with something. A modern translation may help too. Nothing against the King James, but it can be hard to understand for some. Here are some examples of scripture from the New World Translation. I use it along with other translations to get a rounded view of the meaning the writers intended.
2 Timothy 3:16 - All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17Â that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
2 Peter 1:20 - For YOU know this first, that no prophecy of Scripture springs from any private interpretation. 21Â For prophecy was at no time brought by man’s will, but men spoke from God as they were borne along by holy spirit.

Trust the writers of the Bible: you don't have to.
Speak to God on your own terms: yes, you should, often. Make sure you understand what He is telling you in your heart, then do your best to do it.
The Bible is God's word. But it's not the 1st work God ever spoke and it won't be the last. Listen for God's words in your heart.

2 Timothy
16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Peter 1
19We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The Author of The Bible is not Human, but God Himself.
The writers of the Bible didnt write their own words, but they wrote the words of God by direct inspiration of Holy Spirit.

That's what the Holy Spirit of God is for - if you don't have it, the Bible won't make very much sense to you.
The Bible is a very spiritual book - a parable for the saved; not a textbook for the damned.
