PS3's failure rate is .02% which is awesome. The article on how it was tested was intersting also. They had the thing run in 120-140 degree environments and as cold as 20 degree environments and the thing ran for days on end with no problems! Its a very well designed unit.

I have a ps3, but I don't have a problem with people that have an xbox 360. I do have a problem with people that say the xbox 360 is so much better than ps3 because really they are both good systems. Yes, xbox 360 DID have a high failure rate because of the red ring of death, but I believe less people are having those issues now. I'm just confused as to why microsoft would put a light on the system to say that it's dead? If it's a good product, you shouldn't need a light to say that it's messed up. Yes, Sony has lost a LOT of money on the ps3, but as a consumer, I don't really care how well Sony does because I have the product. Sony losing money doesn't really have any influence on me because game prices won't change. A lot more people have xbox 360's mainly because they have better shooting games. Since I'm not big into those types of games, I don't need a xbox 360. I don't really know and I'm not sure you do about the "useless" stuff that the ps3 keeps adding. They've added PlayStation Home, which is pretty boring I must admit, but other than that, I haven't noticed anything else. I don't know much about Sega Dreamcast because they have poor games. I have a ps3 and I enjoy the free online play, but I can understand if you like the xbox 360's because they have better shooting games, but the Dreamcast sucks! I'd rather play Wii than Dreamcast.

I've heard from various sources that the PS3's failure rate is 0.2%. And that first guy must have gotten mixed up with the Xbox 360, because it's failure rate is over 30%

I know three people, including myself that got a launch 60 gb PS3. (We waited launch night in the cold and didn't even get shot!) So far we've seen no problems at all, and mine has gotten a real work-out lately with Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted. Don't get me wrong, I love my 360, but I think Sony did a much better job with quality control.

According to Sony, it's .02%. Some people mistakenly said it's .2%.
