If we were to take away the lights, the trees, the decorations, the presents, the "Santa", the manger in the squares, the big feasts.... would it still be Christmas???

What biblical evidence do you have to support this celebration?

You'd be left with what Christianity contributed to the pagan holiday - the three wise men. The bit about a savior god being born to a virgin and animals bowing down is also originally pagan so you wouldn't have the manager either.

But, why not keep it all, enjoy the season and celebrate for your own reasons? Heathens and Pagans have been celebrating our ancient holy day (12 days and nights for some) and smiling, knowing the origins of what the Christians are celebrating.

Join in the worship to whatever deity you wish. Or just enjoy getting together with family/loved ones for those non-believers.

Ain't none
Christmas was a holiday created for that very purpose, and put on the same day of a pagan holiday to get more people to convert.
If you take all of that away, its still the same...but more like Columbus day....Eh I'd find some way to celebrate it....

I certainly would because the reason for the season for me is Christ. That does not mean though I do without a tree, decorations and presents- it just means that I try and keep the main thing, the main thing, how about you?

Ask the Grinch~ ;) Christmas is a joyous time and what is wrong with the frills? Nothing at all. If something is special to you, you tend to make it memorable. I say light the trees, homes, buy gifts for everyone you can. Remember the needy! Merry Christmas!

For Christians it would be. They are celebrating the birth of Christ.
For everyone else it wouldn't be. They see it as secular.
I don't celebrate it really. I celebrate Yule and yes all of those things play a central part in our lore and traditions.

You can take out Christ too and it will still be Christmas to me.
Christmas to me is just a day for playing backyard cricket with the family and having a few drinks.
