I don't know why some people are afraid but I can tell you that most of the "shop keepers" are afraid they might offend someone with all those "religious overtones" and that they won't spend money in their stores anymore .G-d forbid we should say "Merry Ch--stmas and shock someones sensability.

Brilliant question. Keep up the good work.

um ... under what situation or in what context would you have folks quoting the Bible? i mean ... quoting Jesus doesn't generally come up in the normal course of the day when encountering strangers (unless some Fundy proselytizes at you).

who is in control of our country these days? corporate plutocrats. they buy and own our political leaders and nothing is done, no law is passed and no money is doled out that doesn't somehow benefit the mega businesses that own and operate this country. and these greedy money grubbing, power hungry, war profiteering monsters may appear to be pandering to Christian "family values" but they're screwing everyone who isn't in their billionaire's club. the only things they care about is power and money.

Depends on where you live:
in the US it's the ACLU
and they will be on your case for it
funny name for an organization that's supposed to
support "Liberties / Freedoms" but goes out of it's
way to make sure you have none when it comes to
anything "Religious / Spiritual" that's mainline "Christian"

that's not the only thing

Öh, how hard it is to find a shop, store, etc.
where the employee
is allowed to say:

"Merry Christmas"

cheers

Ever since Bush came in Office and said he is a Christian,
there's this big deal. People bring Bush and God up alot.
Bush is not the kind of Christian I am. I do not understand
his way of thinking when it comes to Christian.
I pray at restaurants before I eat and say Dear God, Bless
this food btw.

Maybe because some people in charge have said Jesus and God so much and then shown themselves to be clearly opposed to Christian concepts of peace, charity and the brotherhood of man and they want to distance themselves from those people.

Or maybe it had something to do with the people in the Bible who say "Lord Lord" or stand on the streetcorners to pray.

Or maybe, just maybe, they want to be the meek and the peacemakers.

Nah....that would mean they'd read the book they hold holy. That NEVER happens.

I am not afraid to speak the name of Jesus- and I will not stop either- He is my Lord and Savior, and I will never stop speaking of Him, even if the government sentenced me to death for it. People who say this are just denying the fact that they are sinners in need of a Savior, and if Satan can get people to stop calling on His Name, Satan thinks he has had some victory- however, remember even satan knows his future- and who ultimately wins- JESUS-

The President of the United States ends half of his speeches with the words "God Bless America" and this to you is being "afraid?" Come OFF it.

Society is getting fed up with all the drama and bs that comes with those words, and they just want to sweep all that crap under the rug.

Control of the country? That's funny.

Um ok-dokee
Well I say "Oh my God" a lot..but trust me I mean no disrespect as I am sure my god isn't your god.

Saying "Oh my Chester Cheetah" just sounds a little odd in public.
