I want to know how to install a kind of Linux on my USB Flash/zip/thumb drive.

ON MAC OS X, do not suggest any kind of windows anything.

I don't care what Linux it is because I can sub in a different iso.

there is a pendrivelinux distribution..

If you have a pendrive large enough, plug it in, boot your computer from the Linux CD/DVD, then when you come to the point of selecting hard disk, choose your pendrive as the disk where Linux should be installed.

You can use that pendrive to boot on computers that have the capability to boot off a pendrive.
