I am going to DC on business tomorrow (Saturday) for a week and I will have the weekend to go see sights. Is there any suggestions as to what to photograph? I will be on a shoestring budget so I wont be able to get into any museums.

I'll have a camera and a tripod. Any suggestions?

The camera will be a film SLR with a 35-80 and a 75-300 lens.

D.C. is incredible for tourists, especially photographers. Every museum is absolutely free and the main strip, (the name slips me) basically takes you directly to the reflection pond in front of the capitol building. The possibilities for street photography, architecture or whatever is everywhere. Statues, gardens, it's all there. Don't miss the chance at some of the worlds finest art museums.

The museums are all free. Everything in DC is a photo op, even if it is "postcard" work. We took our grandchildren there in October and they loved it too. There are more restricted areas now than before 9/11, but you can still use a tripod in the mall area for those evening shots of the Monuments and memorials. Do see the WWII memorial and Arlington, and Mr Lincoln. And Jefferson. And the Natural History Museum. And Air and Space....well, you get the idea!
