There are mental health agencies in almost every county or large city. They will treat you and they will only make you pay what you can afford, which may be free. They are funded by the government and will treat anybody. Look in the phone book, and make an appointment. They are there to help you, good luck.

I got really lucky through a hospital research program. I'm sure you can look up on the internet research programs in your area, or call around to clinics and hospitals. Most have psychiatric departments.
I've found that having a schedule helps immensely with depression. Get up at the same time eveyday. Work, exercise, go to school, hang out with friends. Get involved. It's hard to push yourself when you're down and out, but sometimes with action, comes results. So even if you feel like donkey butt get up and force yourself to move. Take joy in the little things in life. Starbucks, walking your dog, your favorite tv show or movie, music, friends...Good luck

There should be free services in your home town that can help you. Also if you feel you are in need of support right now you should have a look at this place: http://dailystrength.org/support/Mental_Health_Addiction/Depression/ that place helped me alot when i was badly in need of support. Talking is a great way of getting out your emotions.

Playing a guitar, painting anything artistic can help with depression. If you need anything just ask me I know how bad it can feel somtimes.

All the best to you in this hard time

Vanessa.

Drink plenty of alcohol, just kidding. When I feel down what I usually will do is go for a walk or a ride on my motorcycle, my bike is a 800 pound therapist. But getting exercise will help you get things off of your mind.
Another thing to do is visit a home where people are mentally or physically challenged, you will start feeling that things aren't that bad off when you do visit. I do this and I forget that my life isn't that entirely bad.
If you try to fight depression with medical means they would just put you on some kind of false happiness drug, and who would want false happiness, certainly not me. GOOD LUCK my friend.

Ask your primary care physician for a referral to a clinic. But most have a waiting list.Be aware that most psychologists/counselors/lcsw's/ etc will do a sliding fee scale, and are willing to assist with budgetary constraints.
A few extra hours a week overtime is so worth it for an hour with a really good therapist. You deserve to be helped.
Good luck.

You treat it yourself. Try to think of positive things when life gets you down. If you are in a slum, try talking it out with someone. Keep your mind and time busy, so you don't have enough time to think about your depression. Find something you really like to do and start that. Anything to keep you busy.

Remember, in the end, it's really up to you to fix yourself.

Feel better :)

Look in your phone book in the government section to find out if you have a community mental health center run by your city/county. They will often charge you on a sliding scale, based on your income. If you can't find one in the phone book, call your local crisis line. They may be able to refer you to a charity mental health clinic or refer you to a clinic that has easy payment terms. Good luck!
